” It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul”
– William Ernest Henley

My father always taught me as I was growing up that the words that you speak have power for all to hear. I’m not sure how true this is, for I rarely do speak to many, but I have come to realize that every person has a story to tell. Be it the baker in the shop across the way, cheerfully tossing her dough, or the old man sitting on the park bench, they all have a tale to tell. It’s my job to take these stories in and listen to them. However before I go on with the tales that I have heard tell of, and have seen, I suppose I must tell who I am as well. For the storyteller herself must have a tale to tell as well as the subject of said tale.

My name is Valene SilverPard and I own Simplest Dreams, a New Age store which resides currently in Cranberry Cove, Maine. I am not originally from these parts, not whatsoever to be honest with you. I hail from the South of our country, from a little outside Atlanta and I have been wandering list without a home for the last four years. I have read thousands of peoples hearts and souls through my cards and learned them without having the detriment of ever seeing what they look like. I suppose it need be said that this is written on a computer that is built for speech-to-text as I have been blind pretty much my whole life.

You see life differently when you can’t see, some become bitter and full of rage, while others become despondent and sad, for they believe they are missing something in their lives. However, I believe that I am a better person because of my disability. I do not know if you are beautiful or ugly, misshapen or perfect, I only know you by the strength of your character and the depth of your heart. My cards tell me about who you are, and my hands feel for the rest. I know my friends are true, for as few of them as there is, their hearts speak well of them.

This is the account of their tales, their tales and the rest of this quaint little town that I have found myself in…I do so hope that you get as much out of these tales as I do.

Safe Paths to you, whomever you shall be and come back to see me soon,
Valene SilverPard
